There are no piranhas in the Alsterån, nor are there any poisonous snakes like in the tropics. However, there may be common Swedish snakes in the surroundings, such as snakes and vipers, but they are a natural part of the ecosystem and usually avoid people. The water in the river is home to native fish species and small animals that thrive in the calm, flowing water.
